CYBER TERRORISM
Abstract
One of the most significant changes that occurred during the 20th century was the development of information technology. Globally, society has never been more dependent on the Internet, online platforms and online events than it is today. In addition to numerous positive aspects, there are also negative ones brought about by the scientific and technological revolution – new forms of organized crime, among them cyber terrorism.
Cyber terrorism is a recent, understudied threat. It is a specific form of terrorism, not only because of the means that cyber terrorists use, but also because it takes place in a specific environment.
The author of this monograph, prof. Dr. Ivana Luknar, studies one of the most important issues of today by considering other theoretical approaches as well as defining cyber terrorism on a national and international level. With a dynamic and fundamental approach, it deals with social processes such as: globalization, pandemic, migration, climate change and energy crisis, economic crisis and poverty, identity crisis and alienation and their impact on cyber security.
The book systematizes scientific and research material on the current problem and indicates the necessary elements for the suppression and prevention of cyber terrorism, written in a clear scientific style, easily understandable to readers, regardless of previous knowledge of the researched topic.
Not only does he deal with the conceptual definition of terrorism, the author goes further and towards new concepts, which concern the prevention and protection from cyber attacks: deterrence by punishment or deterrence by rejection.
