WORKSHOP ON THE 11TH OF FEBRUARY INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SCIENCE

In the premises of the Institute for Political Studies, Belgrade, on Friday, February 9, 2024, the Workshop “Scientist in the 21st Century” was held on the occasion of February 11, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. 

The position and importance of women in science were discussed through group work and discussions by 21 female scientists from various scientific fields and 13 scientific institutes and faculties. 

The workshop was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, Dr. Marina Soković, Assistant Minister, Science Sector; Dr. Snežana Omić, Department for International Cooperation and European Integration and Marija Veličković, analyst for basic research (social sciences and humanities). 

The topics of discussion were the challenges of working at universities, faculties and institutes, career advancement, training, dissemination of results, creation and management of projects, as well as harmonizing business and private life. 

The aim of the workshop was to exchange experiences, develop solidarity and empower women to dedicate themselves to scientific work, especially young scientists and those who plan to develop their careers within the framework of one of the sciences.

This is the second time that the Institute for Political Studies, Belgrade, has organized an event on the occasion of February 11, and the plan is to continue activities in this direction. Conclusions based on the Workshop will be available soon.
