It is the first in a series of Sretenje Meetings, which the Foundation will hold in cities throughout the country, every year, with the aim of discussing important topics from Serbian history and society.
The moderator of the panel, Nikola Selaković, Minister of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs gave the opening speech.
The following spoke about Serbian statehood: Prof. Dr. Dragutin Avramović, Faculty of Law, University of Novi Sad; prof. Dr. Miša Stojadinović, Principal Research Fellow, director of the Institute for Political Studies, Belgrade, as well as prof. Dr. Aleksandar Rastović, Principal Research Fellow, Institute of History, Belgrade.
In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Miša Stojadinović referred to the question of constitutionality in Serbia, which is actualized by the emergence of the modern Serbian state conceived in the uprising of 1804. At the beginning of the 19th century, serious steps were taken towards the constitution of Serbian statehood, whereby the Sretenje Constitution represents one of the very significant steps in this direction – said Stojadinović, adding that through the lecture he wanted to reflect on a critical review of the socio-historical context of the creation of the Sretenje Constitution from the aspect of contemporary political events in the 21st century.
