THE PHILOSOPHY OF MANAGEMENT AND NATIONAL CULTURE COMPETITIVENESS
Abstract
Article started with highlighting some aspects of social
phenomenology of management, such as experiencing work in
different ways, improving human resources through business
development, ways of motivation and readiness to change in
business life. Based on this analysis, one of the main aspects
of the philosophy of management stands out as a connection
between national and organizational or business culture. In order
to determine the dynamic nature of this relationship as well as the
implications for the organization of business, Hofted’s concept of
dimension of national culture is used. There are four dimensions:
the distance of power in a particular society (culture); the degree
of avoidance of uncertainty (resistance to any risk or changes
in general); individualism / collectivism; women versus male
values. A comparative analysis of the value of national culture
of different societies (countries) according to the proposed
dimensions determines the index of competitiveness of national
culture. Competitiveness is based on the effect of the found values
of the national culture according to the appropriate organizational
or business culture. According to this knowledge, determines
the degree of (comparative) competitiveness of national culture
towards others, as well as according to movements and the
changing situation in the world in general.
