GEOPOLITICS OF THE NEW COLD WAR IN EUROPE - FROM NEW IDEOLOGICAL CONFLICT TO THE END OF DISARMAMENT

The author examines the new Cold War confrontation in Europe between the USA and Russia. After the introduction, the second chapter gives an overview of the geopolitical character of the Cold War, especially its beginning, in order to compare it with the current situation. It is pointed out that the cause of the Cold War structurally lies in Western geopolitical theory. Chapter three looks at security concepts in Europe, 30 years after the end of the Cold War, offered by Russia and the US. It states that Russian initiatives on a new security in Europe, as a one-size-fits-all security, have been blocked by the US. Chapter four analyzes the contemporary ideological confrontation between the West and Russia, following Russia's departure from liberal ideology. At stake is a new feature of the West's conflict with Russia, which sheds some light on the new Cold War confrontation. Chapter Five focuses at the demolition of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty and its implications for European security.
