Сажетак

Феномен сецесије дуги низ година постаје незаобилазан фактор у анализи политичког и безбедносног стања великог броја националних држава. Неуједначена примена прузрокована различитим тумачењем међународног права, један је од начина оправдавања легитимитета сепартистичких захтева без обзира на негативне безбедносне последице. Очигледан пример селективне примене/кршења најважнијих норми међународног права (забрана оружане агресије, очување суверенитета и територијалне целовитости држава) а тиме и националног интереса,  јесте покушај сецесије Косова и Метохије. Током деведесетих година један део међународне заједнице отворено је подржао терористичку организацију под називом „Ослободилачка Војска Косова“ као и њихове захтеве за добијање „независне“ државе Косово. До кулминације стања долази 1999. године када је извршена оружана агресија НАТО пакта на Савезну Републику Југославију. Последице ове врсте понашања појединих држава (великих сила) довеле су до преседана у међународној политици. Интернационализацији питања „независности“ јужне српске покрајине допринели су некадашњи високи чиновници поједниних држава као главни заговорници НАТО агресије а данас најснажнији промотери „независности“ Космета. Циљ који се овим радом жели постићи јесте указивање на све недоследности у међународној политици у временском периоду од почетка деведесетих па све до једностраног проглашења „независности“ Косова и Метохије 2008. године.
