THEMATIC ASSEMBLY IN SIJARINSKA SPA
THEMATIC SCIENTIFIC MEETING ” SOUTHERN SERBIA AND THE SERBIAN STATESHIP”, was held in the period from October 5 to 7, 2023 in Sijarinska banja.
The gathering began with a ceremony honoring the fallen Serbian heroes from the First World War on the occasion of the liberation of Medveđa in 1918, at the very place where the monument was erected, on Vidikovac in the town of Medveđa. This was followed by the gathering of participants and the ceremonial opening of the scientific meeting in the hall of the Medveđa Municipality Assembly.
Welcoming words were delivered by prof. Dr. Dejan Antić, President of the Board of the National Museum of Leskovac, Dragan Kulić, President of the Municipality of Medveđa, Assoc. Dr. Aleksandar Martinović, Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government in the Government of the Republic of Serbia and President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the municipalities of Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa, as well as Nikola Selaković, Minister of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs in the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
Dr. Marija Đorić, senior research associate at the Institute for Political Studies, presented a paper on the topic: “SUFFERING OF WOMEN IN THE SOUTH OF SERBIA DURING THE BULGARIAN OCCUPATION IN THE FIRST WORLD WAR”.
In addition to prof. Marije Djorić, Ph.D., the presentation was given by the esteemed professor, Ljubiša Despotović, Ph.D., scientific advisor at the Institute for Political Studies and Assoc. Dr. Vanja Glišin, research associate at the Institute for Political Studies and the topic they talked about was: “SERBIAN STATESHIP AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 20TH CENTURY THROUGH THE VIEW OF HISTORICAL GEOPOLITICS”.
